    How to shop sale

Navigating the January sales can be daunting, here is our guide to getting the most out of the sale season.

    Planning Ahead:

The key to a stress-free shopping experience is to be prepared and know what you are shopping for, that way although you may get distracted by bargains; you avoid straying too far from your needs.

Before embarking in store, take the time to assess your needs in your wardrobe and note down items you may need.

Know your sizing- changing rooms in stores are often busy during sale time and the task of trying clothes on becomes overly painful.

Dress appropriately-  a basic camisole, leggings and easy to slip off shoes often make a quick change but also helps you imagine what an item may look like paired with existing items in your wardrobe.

Know your brands, sizing and how they fit as all brands fit slightly differently.

If you’re an office worker this is an opportunity to pick up key items for your work wardrobe. Tailored blazers, skirts, pants in neutral shades are timeless and what to look for.

    Basic Separates:

Clearance is an ideal time to replace the basics which build the foundation of your wardrobe, and allow you to incorporate trends overtime. Stock up on items such as basic singlets, tshirts, jersey tops, essential knits and long-sleeve tops that you can layer for extra coverage or when the weather gets cooler.

Choose colours that you can work into your wardrobe seamlessly and will work with trends year round; black, grey, white and nude are great options.

If you find an item with a great fit, buy it in multiple colours to rotate through.

Don’t be afraid to switch items out and replace your basic short and long-sleeve tees each season, these items can lose their stretch and colour due to general wear and washing.

    Classic Pieces:

Clearance is a great time to purchase classic items that will be transitional from season to season.  Look for items that are cut in a classic and flattering shape for your body and won’t date.

Key items to keep an eye out for are:

    • A go-to dress whether it is a wrap dress or a little black dress, this should be appropriate for all occasions.
    • A white shirt you can pair with a skirt for work during the week, and dress down with jeans on the weekend.
    • Jeans cut in a flattering shape and in a timeless wash for versatility and longevity. You can pair with on trend tops.  Alternatively try a straight or skinny leg jean for a more fashionable relaxed look.
    • A fitted blazer for dressing up a weekend outfit or for work.
    • A cardigan for those cooler summer evenings and as we transition into autumn.

Nautical colours and floral prints will create a fresh look, without dating.

    Trends and Accessories:

Clearance is a great time to try out on-trend items that you’re too shy to try usually, key items to try are statement necklaces, shoes or scarves in a loud print.

Look for bags and accessories in clean simple shades and shapes for longevity and options to jazz up an outfit.
