Farmers expects to raise tens of thousands of dollars for the Leukaemia & Blood Foundation with the launch of its reusable shopping bags.
The reusable bag is produced from recyclable plastic bottles and will retail for $4.99, with one dollar from the sale of each bag donated to the Leukaemia & Blood Foundation; a charity that supports the six New Zealanders diagnosed daily with leukaemia, lymphoma or a related blood condition.
The Leukaemia & Blood Foundation executive director, Pru Etcheverry, says: “Farmers is a company with real heart, not only are they making moves to be environmentally responsible, they’re using the opportunity to make another generous contribution to our foundation. We are very appreciative”
Rod McDermott, managing director of Farmers, is confident the bags will prove popular with customers.
“We will continue to offer our existing biodegradable plastic shopping bags free of charge, with the new reusable shopping bags designed to appeal to those who prefer not to use plastic bags,” says Mr McDermott.
The reusable shopping bags are large in size to accommodate the broad product range offered at Farmers and are designed with a stylised Farmers logo in the shape of a flower. The bag will be arriving in Farmers stores nationwide from Monday May 11.
The designs will change out through the year, with a limited edition 100 year birthday celebration bag currently in planning.
